    Future Sølund is a forward-thinking integrated care home program that provides new opportunities for people from all walks of life to interact with one another. Located directly next to the Sortedam Lake in central Copenhagen, the project combines 360 nursing home dwellings, 150 residential units for young people (including 20 for those with disabilities), and shops and cafes facing the lake, all with considered technological solutions for their inhabitants’ welfare.

    A former kindergarten block has been radically transformed into the city’s first cohousing project: Copper Lane provides an affordable model for communal living, while supporting an intentional community of families.     For British Columbia, Canada-based Matthew Heinl, his wife Kaylin, and his parents, the decision to share a home together—along with two children, two dogs, two cats, and five chickens—was one they made together. By that point, Matthew’s recently retired mother Anne was commuting back and forth from the nearby town of Sidney every day to take care of her two grandchildren.
    Shared communal areas, such as the courtyards, playroom, and common house, enable socializing and free play, particularly among the younger members of this micro neighborhood.
    In the Melbourne suburb of North Fitzroy, a case of lucky timing allowed a family occupying a single-fronted terrace house to buy the property next door and renovate the two to build a truly unique home.
