Edwina ermittelt in Berlin

Der Schatz des Priamos

The Treasure of Priam. The children’s thriller takes young readers on a hunt through the living history of Berlin

Edwina is 13 years old and travels to Berlin with her classmates. At the request of her grandpa, she has been tasked with delivering a mysterious parcel to his former classmate Florian Schimmelpfennig. When she rings his doorbell, she doesn’t expect that she will soon join an important investigation. It all starts when Florian Schimmelpfenning rescues a treasure from the former Ministry of Aviation at the end of World War II that would have still been considered lost today if it were not for Edwina, who is wise and curious.

Whether the Nazi regime, the GDR, or the fall of the Berlin Wall, Edwina’s investigations weave cleverly with Berlin’s history and take them to famous landmarks from Clarchen’s Ballhaus to Sophien-Friedhof and the Führerbunker. The storyline is complimented by exciting facts, such as only 91 of the 3,715 animals in the Berlin Zoo survived World War II, and that in 1990, 60% of all East Berlin apartments did not have their own toilet. Collage-like illustrations and city maps invite you to visit the historical sites yourself. As such, the children’s thriller is not only an exciting bedtime read, but also a guide for those who wish to explore Berlin.
